Hi, my name is Dana Guthrie and I teach sixth grade English/Reading. In my class, students will read a variety of classic and contemporary pieces of fiction and nonfiction. Language will be integrated into the many articles and stories read. The use of language regarding style, voice, tense, syntax, and structure will be compared to determine different settings, mood, main ideas, and themes. Literature and language will be used in the reading,writing process to develop good communication skills through the written and spoken word. Literature helps us understand the world and ourselves a little better.
