| This scholarship is given in honor of Joan
Pawley Stewart. It is available in the amount of $500 to one
student, any West Texas area public school senior who has
participated in journalism. The applicant must provide a copy
of their acceptance letter to a two year college, four year college
or a technical school and must graduate with a minimum overall 80
average. The applicant must also provide a current high school
transcript. |

Bill Wyche Jr. Memorial Scholarship- offering
$1,000 college scholarships from the Bill Wyche, Jr.
Memorial Scholarship Fund to deserving high school
seniors who are interested in range management
studies.
The application deadline is April 30th.

| Landon Scholarship
Trust will award a one-time scholarship to a Texas A&M bound
high school senior for the 2007 Fall semester. This
scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and
involvement in school and community activities. Financial need
is considered, but is not necessarily the determining factor in
selecting a recipient.
Students interested in applying
should complete the application enclosed, and mail to the following
address no later than April 2, 2007. The application should be
accompanied by a copy of the student's high school transcript, as
well as SAT and /or ACT scores.

Applicants
must be:
-
either
a high school graduate or college undergraduate student
-
intend
to work in the petroleum industry
-
enrolled
in an accredited engineering college
-
possess
and maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average on a
4.0 scale
In
addition, the application must be typed, the school transcript
must be an original official copy, and the reference
statements are to be signed and sealed in envelopes by the person
making the reference. Failure to abide by these instructions
will void the application. Applications post marked after May
15, 2006 will not be accepted. |
| Carr Academic
Scholarship
Over $3 million will be allocated for Carr Academic
Scholarship awards for the 2007-2008 academic year. Individual
awards for incoming freshmen range from $2,000 to $6,000 annually with
priority given to individuals of high academic ability.

| Twenty-eight $5,000 scholarships are
awarded annually in Texas and funded through the generosity of Boone
Pickens. The Horatio Alger Texas Scholarship Program provides
financial assistance to students in the state of Texas who have
exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal
adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education. See the
